The Vision
In a collaborative exploration of isolation and personal philosophy, Michael Beets directed the award-winning music video for Gordi’s 'Bitter End'. The film centers on a puppet living an isolated existence, moving through a space where images of the artist are projected onto screens alongside vast, ethereal fields of stars.
The directorial approach mirrors the track's narrative arc—starting sparsely and evolving into a rich, triumphant visual coda. By juxtaposing the "small world" of the puppet with cosmic projections, the work reflects on the tension between self-centered irrelevance and the realization that these intimate, personal lives are precisely what matter most.
Designed as a multiple-platform experience, 'Bitter End' was delivered both as a cinematic 2D film and an immersive VR work, earning the Audience Choice Award at the St. Kilda Film Festival.
